THE BEGINNING
In 2001, Rod took charge of one of Fremantle's leading Real Estate Agencies, where he met and employed Miguel De Freitas, an energetic up-and-comer from Sydney. It didn't take long for Miguel to flourish, so much so that in 2007 the joint venture De Freitas & Ryan Property Consultants was born.
THE JOURNEY
Rod and Miguel worked hard in the early years to grow the business organically and with great business foresight accompanied with very successful 6PR advertising campaigns, the introduction of a flat fee management fee structure which created ease for property owners and a number of dedicated staff members, the business grew rapidly and at its peak realized five residential offices, a dedicated commercial office and were managing over 2200 properties.
In 2020, Rod and Miguel decided to streamline the business and sold off all residential managements to RMA Australia. This business move meant that they were ready to focus their attention on commercial sales and leasing, as well as residential sales.
THE OUTCOME
Today, Miguel De Freitas leads the award-winning commercial office located in bustling Cockburn Central. With a strong team, dedicated commercial and industrial specialists and experienced property managers, We offer a boutique “hands-on” service and we are excited to see how DFR Commercial continues to make waves in the Perth property market.

Tragically DFR Commercial lost Rod Ryan in May 2023 to a short but aggressive battle with cancer. We were overwhelmed by the wonderful support we received from our very loyal and long-term clients as well as the 6PR family. Rod Ryan left his mark with so many, in an industry that he devoted his life to, with a career that lasted 52 years and was cut short as he had no intentions of ever retiring. Rod will surely be missed and his legacy will live on with his business partner Miguel De Freitas.
